Major Arcana

This work was developed during an artist residency in Shanghai with the theme Major Arcana of the Tarot, which resulted in an exhibition at the Art Labour Gallery with two other artists.
In the Tarot, each card is linked to a meaning and any modification of this meaning depends on the other cards dealt. As far as orientation is concerned, this is given by the other cards that will define the general orientation.

Year: 2008

Venue: Art World Project / Art Labor Gallery – Shanghai

Technique: Manipulation of digitalised images printed on fabric. Acrylic painting and resin reliefs.

Format: 100 x 100 cm

From here, when I started working on the Tarot, I decided to represent not only the card itself, but also the meaning that the different combinations of cards can take on in the different astral divisions.

This will represent a kind of ‘given information’ that is everything but the visible and the invisible, along with our personal wishes and desires that can also change the destiny shown by the cards.

When I undertake to work the Tarot, I start to think about how to give my own idea of the way I feel about people’s possible relationships with the future.
