My 4th year research project, Animal Skeleton – Bone Structures, resulted in these four iron sculptures.
I focussed on the bone structures of dinosaurs, specifically the vertebral column, because of its dynamic shape, rhythmic density and expressive repetition, thus creating ‘floating lines’ that give rise to regular and irregular shapes that create a regularity of movement in space.
I relied on regular geometric shapes, primary anti-dynamic shapes such as the square, which imply an idea of stagnation and solidification.
